Sweet jesus has anybody played the FEAR demo for the 360 or even played it on the PC? It's fucking scary! There I am walking along with my big gun (could it be any other way? ;) ) and some little girl runs by my an disappears!

Then I start to go down a ladder and she appears right in front of me and then disappears again!

I get to the bottom of the ladder and there is some dude right next to me - I shit my pants and fire and by that time he's just burst into feathers or dust... or something. That shit just isn't on!

I'm a big wimp with games like that. I remember playing the first Doom with an old friend and we'd get so scared that we'd run half way back through a level at the first fright (we were only about 10 or something, right!). Resident Evil never really bothered me but you knew what you were in for.

I really want to play some Silent Hill but there only seems to be one game for the Xbox and I can't find anywhere to buy it from. One day. One day.

Since upgrading to Windows Vista x64 my Last.fm plugin has stopped working :( At first I was pretty annoyed but I then realised that I can play all my cheesey/crappy/shouldn't-be-listened-to-music without anybody knowing.

I've set about the completely pointless mission of creating a web based Windows Vista. The only good thing to come out of it will be that people that haven't seen it yet will get an idea of the look and feel. That's it. That's all.

Billy Talent, Spam and Work

Update: Ooops there was a bug in the post link. I wasn't stripping out the comma. Link works now.

Billy Talent were amazing on Friday night! I didn't find anybody to go with in the end but met some randoms outside the venue so all was well. I accidentally ended up in the pit at the front and was thrown around like a toy for a while before escaping. And then I went back for more ;)

Work has quietened down now although there is still lots to do and heck it's good to have a weekend off! I'm pretty certain that I'm going to accept the offer to move to and work in Bristol now. I can't really say no to the extra cash. I've pretty much just been bribed but isn't bribe just another work for love?

We're currently in the process of arranging a work trip to Syndey where I'll spend 4-6 weeks working in our Sydney office. After that I'll be taking a few weeks off in annual leave and travel about the country hopefully. Melbourne and Perth are the two other places I really want to go and I want to learn to dive while I'm there.

I've built some anti-spam features into the site today. I rarely get spammed and there has really only been one post that is repeatedly spammed and it's annoying. These precautions should help stop spam in future for when I'm all famous...

Comments are closed on older posts and there are blacklisted words too. I've tried to build it so that any text entered has a weighting so that if a valid comment uses the phrase "diet pills" it will still get through but if the phrase is used several times or in conjunction with other blacklisted words it will be classed as spam.

Something else that I've tried to do is track an IP's address through the site and determine how fast the requests are happening. Obviously if they are happening too fast it will be a bot. Something else that I've noticed is the spam bots changing IP between comments (usually idle for about 10 mins before spamming again) and so I've blocked post requests from any IP addresses that haven't been seen in the last couple of hours.

One other small thing is that any comment that takes less than 4 seconds (measured from the request on the post and then the post request to submit the comment) it is classed as spam.

This is all very experimental so if you have issues please let me know! Also, if anybody has any other ideas or has something to say about the above just shout out. What else can be done to stop spam?

New iPod? Thanks for screwing us again

Okay I admit it. I want one. They are probably the most beautiful things I've ever seen but for fucks sake stop revamping your fucking products every fucking week!

When I first bought the iPod mini it was perfect - small and plenty of space. Then 6 months later they released a newer model with more battery life and space. I bought it for the battery life. They've just done the same thing with the Nano!

Nobody has to buy the upgraded models obviously, but they are playing on the fact that suckers like me like shiny thing. But, ha! I win this time Apple I'm not being drawn into that game again. No sir. No... I like the green one. I can fight through this. Shit, it's in the basket. Phew, closed the window.

Now that I've stopped being the saddest little fucker on the planet I can get on with my life.
