Rise of the idiots

I've bitched about this before and I'll do it again. What is wrong with this country? What's happened to free speech? I would be willing to bet that of those 500 compliants over 6 months not one of them was gay. Not one. Nobody has to listen to JC and everybody knows he's a bastard. That's why so many people watch his shows. I love bastards. The world needs more people like him. True enough, though each complaint means there were1 billion people offended. That's 500 billion offended people out there!

But no, that isn't the worst from this loopy country. Using iPod add-ons doesn't give you complete privacy. I quote: In the worst scenario suggested by the scientists, stalkers could use the tracking data to "engineer" encounters with victims.. Yes, they have officially lost the plot. Listen, I'm no expert at stalking but if I wanted to stalk somebody I'd, I dunno, say... use my eyes? I wouldn't build some strange machine just to pick up when somebody was in the area. I'd look. I hate to go all backward on the world like that.

Also in the news, after several years the Iraqi Insurgents are yet to work out that their enemies are the ones with guns, not the ones saving lives. To be fair, I think most of us get confused about this one too, don't we? Don't we? Guns, saving lives... they're both so similar (ironically the two are very different but often go hand in hand, don't they?).

Of course it's not just Iraqi Insurgents that are confused by this. There are many in this country that are also confused by life saving.

I know, I know it's Christmas and I should be focusing on the better things around the world... like.... ummmm.... The Pussy Cat Doll(s)?

When will the country learn that it's not okay to be an idiot and we shouldn't be tolerant of it. I guess we wouldn't want anyone in the entire world to be upset though - so best just to keep quiet.

Sushi Rolls

My very first attempt at Japanese cooking - sushi rolls! I ordered the Nori from JapanCentre.com and the rest from Sainsburys (tuna, cucumber, spring onions and chilis). I even made a couple of sea animals to mark the occasion ;) Also, the observant among you will notice the ingredients aren't quite in the center... I'll work on that next time :)

Sushi Rolls

A couple of lessons were learnt here. Firstly, don't use whole-grain rice - use the proper shit otherwise you're waiting a life time for it to cook. Second, buy a sharp fucking knife. They tear if you don't have one :(

Lostprophets

Update: Rooftops and Last Summer (both partial) up on YouTube now! Now you can see some of the greatness.

The venue: Edinburgh Corn Exchange, 3rd December 06. The scene: Gale force winds, pissing it down with rain and a very long line.

I bought my ticket to see Lostprophets within 5 minutes of them being out way back in September or October. I was at work early to make sure I'd be on the website in time. I don't know why because while they are pretty big, I doubt they would have sold out in the first day. In fact I think it was a good month or so before the venue sold out. Still, I didn't have to worry about that because I had my ticket.

Anyway, I thought I'd be smart and wait an hour before heading over so that I didn't have to line up. I was in no rush to see Bring Me The Horizon. I actually thought that I'd be sticking out like a sore thumb there. I mean without eyeliner, long straightened hair covering one eye so that I can hardly see I'm not the coolest cat in the world. Heck I wasn't even wearing Converse All Stars, didn't have my boxer shorts showing and wasn't wearing a studded belt! Were they even going to let me in?!

So I turn up an hour after the doors open and there was still a long line growing by the minute. (What's with that? Did everybody go late in an attempt not to be too early therefore making them early?) Eventually get in only to find that BMTH hadn't even played yet :( It was another hour or so before Lostprophets were on.

They were worth the 2 month (+1 hour) wait though. For the most part they were playing newer tracks from the latest album but went through a lot of older ones too, like Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja and Last Summer. And then there was Last Train. The only time I've gone (and seen people) go so mad was when Muse played Plug In Baby earlier on in the year. I think I'm only just able to talk again.

Photos are up on Flickr, although they aren't the best quality.
