I had no idea they were going to be releasing an updated version so soon.

Honestly, I don't care that much seeing as I don't use the hardrive (I stream everything from my Windows Vista machine) and I don't have any HD movies. Heck, we can't even download any media like that in the UK so what use is it 'til they start letting download. I'm sure the game picture quality might be better with this one because it uses the HDMI connectors but, meh - I'm half blind anyway ;)

Is a nightmare. And expensive. I've been here 2 months now and getting everything sorted in my apartment has been the most stressful exercise.

There's so much I've never even needed to think about before. I think renting a fully-furnished or even part-furnished apartment is quite common and that's what I've always done. Over here it seems to be extremely uncommon to rent a furnished apartment and so I've had to get everything myself.

So far I have:

  • A fridge/freezer
  • Washing machine
  • Queen bed (it's not like I'm gonna sleep in a single)
  • Big sofa

My shipment from the UK arrives on Tuesday, so I'll have a TV again, and most importantly my bike! But absolutely no furniture.

Suggests are welcome from those that have had to do this before. I think the next thing should be a hoover, and then some kind of dining table. But I really want a giant TV. I don't even watch TV but I still want a giant one.

What are the things I haven't thought of, but will end up really needing?

Dean Edwards has built a really nice JavaScript library intended (maybe not intended? I'm not too sure what the bigger picture here is) to fix and expand on the current DOM where needed. What's most exciting here is the implementation of the DOM Level 3 Core Selectors API. It's only 20kb when compressed so definitely worth using, and has none of that fancy shit that other libraries do (don't know why, but I just don't like it all. reminds me of <blink>).
