I accidentally wiped the wrong hard drive while installing Ubuntu and lost all my code, mp3s, photos and programs. Well that's just shit.

Update: Back to Windows XP now. Looks like I lost all my files for nothing. Ubuntu just isn't ready for all that 21st century wireless networking. I know it's still only 8 years old, but hey what can ya do. There were also some major problems with getting the graphics card to work too.

Thanks for clarifying that Ubuntu can't do wireless. I ran an Ubuntu live CD a few days ago just to see what the fuss was about and - while it's a nice piece of software, especially considering the price - it's just not quite up to the abilities of WinXP. I noticed that it lacked a Wireless Networking option but I thought maybe that was because I was running off the live CD... glad you did the hard work for me. ;) Sorry to hear about your hard drive though - that blows hard.

To be fair I have heard that it does do wireless (although it is fairly new to Linux) but the problem is with drivers. The company that makes drivers for my network card don't make them for linux. Apparently any other network card usually works.

Apparently.

It made me realise that while Windows may be far from perfect - it's still light years ahead of Linux.
