Yet more musical adventures for me. Amazingly this too involves nasty lager.

I'm not a huge fan of The Subways but it was a pretty sweet show all the same - lots of loud music, screaming fans and crowd surfing. Billy even climbed up the second floor and jumped down to the crowd - a brave move! Already this is a boring review... fuck it. They were pretty fucking awesome and the bass player was really hot most likely due to the smallest hot pants known to man. Not to mention her red hair - I love red hair (the dyed kind, not ginger red - there is nothing wrong with being ginger by the way. Robots don't have souls either.).

I always thought they were an American band - but no!!! They sound like they're from South East England. So I was wrong. Deal with it. It had to happen at some point.

New movie Severance looks pretty awesome in a Sean of The Dead kind of way. I like that it's a sales team being killed off - heck it's a dream come true! With any luck you'll be getting my opinion of the film soon enough.

What about the web?

Okay I know the ramblings on my life aren't the most excting thing to read but nor are web related topics. They're just more meaningful to you that's all.

I've actually been working on an upgrade to the site - a little design but mostly backend so don't expect anything too fancy looking when it goes live. Anyway while fixing some bugs the other day I inadvertently uploaded some of the new files which is why the site is retarded in some areas.

One of the updates is a javascript function to style HTML in a pre element. It's still pretty basic right now but feel free to steal and hack if you think it would be useful. I'll be trying to update it on occasion - it could probably be a lot smarter and would be handy for working on new JS skillz.

I'm going to be adding an about page too, although I'm still not too sure of that one. If you're out there and reading this let me know if you want an about page. You may or may not give a shit about who I am and what I do. Update: Instead of writing a comment Claire has decided to write an essay on this ;)

Does anybody know of any decent RSS feeds for music gigs in the UK/Scotland? If not I've been thinking of making one on this site that grabs the ripping records HTML and creating an RSS file from it or possibly a web service. It would be awesome to find other sources and combine them - that's probably illegal right? Heck I'm a rebel. Now that I think about it a site with music events could use hcalendar to make it more search engine friendly. It would be much easier for Google to find the events that way. Is there already a tool for this? With a nice little API it could be useful for those who want to display a list of gigs they've been to on their site. Tied in with Amazon web services and the flickr API some neat stuff could be done (linking to photos from the gig you were at for example).

Could hcalendar be used for TV listings online? Cinema show times? Train times? Charity events?

I mentioned before that deviantART could do with an API - would that be of use to anybody? I was thinking about attempting to make one myself - it wouldn't to really fast but it would allow people to put up thumbnails on their websites and upload photos without having to go the website (this would be based on the web or on a desktop which would mean you'd need the .Net Framework 2.0 installed). Something like that might be in breach of their terms and conditions. Anyway let me know what you think.

Holidays

Where should I go? Barcelona. Amsterdam. Suggestions?

I'm still torn between going on holiday and getting an Xbox 360. See, holidays are good, really good but they last a couple of days. The same money will get me an Xbox that will last a good few years I imagine.
